Power of COUCH begins with desire to give back
Volunteering with COUCH is all about matching your passions and skills with meaningful opportunities that make a real impact. Whether you want to build new skills, meet inspiring people, engage with your community, or give back to a cause close to your heart, we have a role for you.
We can’t do what we do — supporting our local community — without the time and generosity of our volunteers. They are truly the heart of COUCH.
By volunteering, you help strengthen our local community and support people impacted by cancer — their families, friends, and carers. From administrative support to event help, hands-on roles, and everything in between, there are plenty of ways to get involved.
Join our amazing team and be part of something truly special. You’ll gain valuable experience, meet resilient and inspiring individuals, and experience the rewarding feeling of making a difference every day.
At COUCH, we believe in the power of community and supporting each other. Whatever your passion or skill set, your time and effort will be valued and appreciated.

Roles on offer – how you can contribute (and have fun!)
In the cafe
Love coffee, food, and connecting with people? Join our volunteer-led café team and be part of creating a warm, welcoming space nestled in the heart of the rainforest at COUCH.
As a café volunteer, you’ll help prepare and serve delicious coffees and tasty food, providing a friendly atmosphere where clients, and visitors can relax and connect. Whether you’re behind the espresso machine, assisting with food prep, or welcoming guests with a smile, your contribution helps foster a sense of community and comfort.
No professional café experience is required — just a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a love for creating great experiences. If you enjoy working in a beautiful, peaceful environment while supporting a meaningful cause, this role is perfect for you.
Making the hub tick
Want to help keep COUCH Cancer Hub NQ running smoothly? This role is all about making a real difference behind the scenes — from setting up rooms for group classes to tidying, cleaning, and ensuring therapists have fresh, fluffy towels ready for their clients.
Maintaining a clean and hygienic environment is essential to the wellbeing and comfort of everyone who visits, so your attention to detail helps create a safe, welcoming space where people feel cared for. Think of it as the art of keeping everything sparkling, fresh, and healthy — a vital part of the COUCH experience.
This role is suited to an all-rounder who loves to pitch in and see the immediate results of their efforts.
Fundraise and attend events
Do you love getting creative, meeting new people, and being part of something meaningful? COUCH runs a variety of exciting fundraising events throughout the year, and many community groups also host events on our behalf that often need volunteer support.
Whether it’s assisting with event logistics, organising and selling raffles and auctions, designing promotional materials, decorating venues, or helping spread the word, your involvement directly supports local people impacted by cancer.
Join us to have fun and connect with the community.
Grab your tool belt
There is plenty of opportunity to put handy skills to good use. We’re looking for volunteers to help with the ongoing maintenance of the hub and small handyman jobs. If you’re a tradie or just handy around the house and want to support others, we’d love to hear from you.
Calling all green thumbs
Help keep the hub’s gardens healthy and beautiful with general tidy-ups, planting, and maintenance. With our rainforest and pretty gardens, we’ll put your green thumb to good use – just bring your love of spending time outdoors. Your efforts will brighten the space and bring smiles to everyone who visits.
Keeping operations smooth
If you’re organised, detail-oriented, and love keeping things running smoothly, COUCH has a role for you. Tasks include data entry, records management, front desk duties, event assistance, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the hub. We have plenty of administration tasks to keep you busy.
Help drive our services
Volunteers with research and communication skills are required to write grants which help support our important services. As a grant writer, you’ll research, draft, and submit grant applications that help secure vital support for COUCH’s programs and services. Previous experience is preferred, but your dedication and attention to detail are what matters the most.
