Stability, mobility and body awareness key to program
Strength and balance training supports safer daily function, stability, and confidence. The Strength and Balance class is designed for people at risk of falls or unsteadiness. It also suits those rebuilding confidence after illness, inactivity, or ageing. Importantly, some cancer treatments can reduce strength and balance. This may occur due to changes in bone density, muscle loss, or nerve sensitivity. This program supports people affected by these changes.
Many people notice balance challenges after treatment. Fatigue, deconditioning, and reduced bone health can increase fall risk. This class addresses those challenges through guided exercise and functional training. As a result, participants feel steadier and more confident in daily activities.
Improving Strength, Stability, and Control
The program focuses on building muscle strength, coordination, and balance. These areas play a vital role in fall prevention and independence. Exercises support posture, stability, and body awareness. Each session prioritises safe technique and gradual progression.
Participants practise activities that support walking, standing, bending, and reaching. Over time, regular training improves control and physical resilience. Many people report greater confidence and reduced fear of falling.
Supporting Desensitisation and Symptom Management
This class also supports desensitisation. It helps people who experience tingling, discomfort, or altered sensation in their hands or feet. These symptoms can occur after certain cancer treatments. Exercises gently introduce different positions and physical challenges. This approach can improve tolerance and symptom management over time.
By building familiarity with exercise, participants gain confidence. Daily tasks often feel safer and easier as a result.
A Safe and Supportive Exercise Environment
The class offers a calm and welcoming environment. It suits people who find gyms overwhelming. It also suits those wanting more challenge than gentle classes. Sessions progress gradually and focus on control rather than intensity.
Participants build strength and balance at their own pace. This reduces injury risk and supports long-term confidence.
