Strength and balance

Stability, mobility and body awareness key to program

Strength and Balance class is specifically designed for people who are at risk of falls, have experienced unsteadiness, or are looking to rebuild confidence in their movement.

This program focuses on improving muscle strength, coordination, and balance — all key factors in reducing the risk of falls and maintaining independence. The exercises are tailored to support stability, mobility, and body awareness, while also addressing deconditioning that can occur after illness, inactivity, or ageing.

Importantly, the class can also help with desensitisation, assisting those who experience discomfort, tingling, or altered sensation in their hands and feet. By safely exposing the body to different movements and sensations, participants may find improvements in how they tolerate and manage these symptoms.

It’s a safe, supportive environment for people who may find the gym too intense, but want more challenge than a gentle yoga session. By gradually building strength, control, and resilience, participants reduce the likelihood of injury, better manage symptoms, and gain confidence in performing daily tasks with greater ease.
