General Practitioner

Trust and treatment

At COUCH Cancer Hub NQ our GP services ensure the focus is on helping people through treatment and the transition back into community-based care.

A doctor who understands cancer and its impacts

On Mondays, a General Practitioner is available at COUCH Cancer Hub for cancer-related consultations. Appointments are open to clients, their families, and carers.

You can book if you are concerned about possible symptoms, need screening, or require support during or after cancer treatment.

This service helps clients transition smoothly from treatment back to community-based care. As a result, clients maintain continuity, confidence, and support throughout their journey.

The General Practitioner service provides:

  • Cancer-related medical support and symptom management

  • Screening for clients concerned about possible cancer

  • Survivorship care planning

  • Medicare-enabled coordination, including GP Management Plans and Mental Health Care Plans

  • Care navigation and referrals to other services

Having a General Practitioner onsite gives clients trusted medical support in a familiar environment. Consequently, it is easier to manage ongoing health needs, access care plans, and feel supported during a challenging time.

Appointments focus on cancer-related consultations and are available to new clients, existing clients, and their families or carers.

Booking a session with the General Practitioner ensures personalised care in a safe, supportive setting. This service helps make the cancer journey more manageable and less overwhelming.
