Learn techniques to soothe and energise

Breath and Qi is a very low-impact class inspired by the principles of Tai Chi and Qigong, but offered in a relaxed, accessible way. This class combines gentle body movements with breathing techniques to help calm the mind and energise the body.

Movements can be done seated, standing, or lying down, making the class suitable for all levels of fitness and mobility. The focus is on improving oxygen flow, increasing energy levels, and building practical skills to manage stress and anxiety.

For those who find traditional meditation challenging – particularly the stillness and focus on being alone with one’s thoughts – Breath and Qi offers a gentle alternative. With its flowing movements and mindful breathing, relaxation comes naturally through the activity itself.

Many participants find the techniques especially helpful for coping with moments of uncertainty, such as waiting for scan results or managing anxious thoughts. Guided by a warm and engaging facilitator, Breath and Qi also has a light-hearted side – with music and laughter. It’s a fun, supportive environment that helps you relax, reset, and feel more at ease.

Breath and Qi is on Wednesdays at 9:30am.

All the techniques I learnt in Breath and Qi helped me significantly with focussing on my breath and not my anxiousness when experiencing a CT scan or radiation therapy.
